Insurance that actually covers you
Travel insurance, nomad insurance and expat health plans explained in plain English.

Three kinds of cover
- Travel insurance: short trips. Covers emergencies, cancellations, lost bags. Usually ends when you go home or after a few months.
- Nomad insurance: rolling monthly cover for people moving between countries (SafetyWing, Genki).
- International expat health: annual plans with routine care, specialists and maternity (Cigna Global and similar).
What women should check
- Gynecological care, contraception and maternity. Many cheap plans exclude them.
- Mental health and therapy sessions.
- Medical evacuation and repatriation limits.
- Whether your home country is covered when you visit.
- Adventure sports, scooter rides and diving, if you'll do them.
Visa tip
Most digital nomad visas require proof of health insurance valid in that country for the full stay. Ask your insurer for a letter in English stating coverage amounts.
